Used Vinyl Records and Their Grading
Used vinyl records refer to previously owned LPs (long-playing records), singles, and EPs that have been circulated and are resold. Their value and playability vary based on condition, which is assessed using a standardized grading system to help buyers understand the quality before purchase.
Vinyl Record Grading:
- Mint (M): Perfect, like new with no visible flaws or playwear.
- Near Mint (NM or M-): Almost perfect, with minimal signs of handling.
- Very Good Plus (VG+): Light surface wear, but plays with minimal noise.
- Very Good (VG): Noticeable signs of use; surface noise and minor scratches present but still playable.
- Good Plus (G+) / Good (G): Heavier wear, significant surface noise, and possible skips.
- Fair (F) / Poor (P): Major damage, often unplayable except for collection purposes.
Grading considers both the vinyl and its sleeve, ensuring a transparent representation of the record's condition.
